President of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK)
Eric Schweitzer was born in Ipoh/Malaysia in 1965. After studying Business Administration at Freie Universität Berlin, he continued with post gradual studies and received his doctorate degree in political science in 1990. His father’s family-owned business ALBA AG (later known as ALBA Group plc& Co. KG, a corporate group for recycling, environmental services and raw materials trading), called him in as Member of the Board of Managers in the year 1990, where he was responsible for development and activities in the new German Länder (federal states). He was later appointed Chief Executive Officer of ALBA Group plc& Co. KG, which he heads with his brother Dr. Axel Schweitzer. Furthermore, Eric Schweitzer is the President of DIHK (Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry), the central organisation for 79 regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHKs) in Germany. DIHK speaks for more than three million entrepreneurs. The organisation also promotes and co-ordinates the network of 130 entities worldwide in 90 countries.
